  • It became clear to me that Island in the Sky Farm is imbued with the vision, purpose, and love of fostering healing and sustainable connections with land and life. I came for peace, solitude, and stunning mountain views, and the place delivered all that, but it also got me out of my head to connect with others: with mountains and stars and the river, with lime and orange and avocado trees, with llamas, dogs, roosters, and guinea pigs, and with the people who live and farm in this gorgeous rural corner of Ecuador. Thanks to Freddy for showing me some amazing higher-altitude views and for friendly walks and conversations. Thanks to Nicholas for inspiring his guests with what is possible in our relationships with land, life, place, and people. The cabin is designed with intention and detail, and I loved the attention to lighting, both natural and via fixtures and lamps. A very special place to which I look forward to returning!

  • Nicholas' place was beautiful and spacious. The perfect place for a few weeks of rest and calm. We loved cooking in the beautiful kitchen and waking up to the birds chirping. The best part was the dogs — Tony and Oso! The town was bigger than we expected and there were plenty of places to get almuerzo and explore. We played soccer in the fields and hiked down the mountain to the river — it was awesome!

  • We spent two beautiful months here during quarantine. The farm is peaceful and gorgeous. There is an incredible view of the mountains and you are surrounded by nature and flowers and fruits and vegetables. The cabin is perfect, clean and with modern amenities while still feeling rustic and part of nature. Our lifestyles changed for the better while staying here: we ate healthy, vegan, local food, we slept early and woke up with the sun, we hiked and spent time outside being active, and we relaxed far away from the busyness of city life. What an amazing place.

  • A truly magical and incredible place to stay! Nick & Freddy are wonderful hosts. We instantly felt at home. My partner and I had been travelling for 10 months and needed to stop for a month and recuperate. This was everything we wanted and more. The cabin is cosy, with beautiful furnishings, lamps and details. The views are just spectacular! We loved being able to see hummingbirds, fireflies and llamas daily. There's a separate beautiful yoga studio that overlooks the mountains. We loved cooking in the kitchen — it's so well stocked. Cahuasquí is a sweet, friendly village. Highly recommended!

  • My family (including my 4 year old son) stayed on the farm in Cahuasquí for one month in June and it was MAGICAL! We loved waking up and greeting the llamas and dogs each morning out the kitchen window as we made pancakes. Freddy the farm manager was wonderful, helpful and responsive. Every other day we made the 10-minute walk into town, a beautiful small agricultural community perched on an epic plateau suspended in the mountains.

  • Respect for the peace, tranquility and beautiful residents of Cahuasquí. The climate, vistas and air are amazing. The accommodations at the casita are outstanding for sleeping, cooking, relaxing and taking it all in. Freddy will take very good care of you — he's a caring and sincere person. The gardens, fruit trees, llamas, Tony and Oso, ducks, chickens, rabbits and birds make this calming and beautiful. After a few days we happily decided to stay the rest of our 2 months.

  • Our experience living on Nic's farm for a month was truly special! The view is stunning — mountains all around, lush farm and garden full of flowers. The kitchen is perfectly stocked, the wifi is great, and guests have all the perks of living on a remote farm with none of the hard work. We made good friends with Freddy and with Tony and Oso, the cutest doggie duo. I cried when I left. Cahuasquí has friendly people and incredible hikes nearby.

  • This place is amazing, for either short-term or long-term stays. Located high in the Andes, this small organic farm is beautifully situated at the edge of a fertile plateau with remarkable views across a steep valley, frequently filled with clouds and mist. The casita is very spacious and extremely well designed to take advantage of the scenery. The two resident llamas and dogs add to the joy of the stay. Highly recommended for an extremely relaxing and tranquil experience.

  • An authentic small farm experience in a comfortable and decently equipped casa convenient to the pretty village of Cahuasquí. Outstanding views from the large windows. Watch the clouds drift down the mountainside and fireflies dance as darkness settles. Fall asleep to the sound of frogs and wake with the cockerels. Fresh veggies and avocados from the garden make meals special. The people of Cahuasquí are very friendly.

  • Nick's place was glorious. The scenery, hospitality, and cozy cabin were a delightful way to spend our days in the mountains. The place has all the basics with native decorative detail that add to the charm. Fresh citrus in the mornings. Cute farm animals. Friendly neighbors. Freddy, the farm manager, is a fountain of kindness and knowledge and made our stay so special. We loved it and will definitely be back!

  • Nick's house in Cahuasquí and the surrounding gardens were incredibly beautiful. Nothing quite like the view, or the fact that you can walk out the door and pick mandarins and lemons at your pleasure. We spent four days going on amazing hikes, sampling local food, and chatting with our local guide, Freddy. Both Nick, Freddy, and the people of Cahuasquí went above and beyond in their hospitality. An absolute once-in-a-lifetime experience.
