The studio

Where you practice.

A hand-built studio open to the valley on three sides, with mats, props and blankets waiting. Vinyasa in the morning while the air is still cool, slower Hatha and somatic work as the light goes long. Every session is pitched so beginners can follow and long-time practitioners stay interested.

The finished studio: open on three sides, mats set to the valley
River-stone walls, wood floors, and windows that hold the whole ridge
The pattern, drawn first, with river stones laid out on paper
Stone columns rising from the field, the beams laid down to place the wood floor
The columns at dusk, the ridge behind them
The first walls go up, the llama unbothered
Every stone set by hand by masons from town
Inside the frame: stone, timber, and sky
The walls take their full height against the sky
Clouds spilling over the ridge, the walls still rising
The whole build, the whole valley
River stones, set in mortar, still wet
The floor goes down between the finished walls
Filling the panels between the columns
A finished panel, stone set in timber
Columns and timber, waiting for the roof
The ridge beam goes up
Rafters across the frame as the studio gets its roof
What you get

Everything, once you arrive.

One week on the farm. Lodging, every meal, every yoga session and every excursion is included in the price, so there is nothing to add on.

  • A handbuilt cabin or glamping tent

Adobe, brick, timber and river stone, raised by hand with the neighbours.

  • Daily yoga with a certified teacher

Vinyasa in the morning, Hatha and somatic work in the late light. Beginners welcome.

  • All meals, plus a dinner in town

Food from the garden and local places most days and nights, with the exception of one group night out in the town.

  • Unlimited estate coffee

Picked right outside the yoga studio. 93 points at a professional tasting.

  • Natural hot springs

Mineral water that comes out of the mountain hot, down through the canyon.

  • The waterfall

A forest walk in until you hear it before you see it. Cold, loud, worth standing under.

  • Horseback riding

Ride trails on horses that know the ground better than you do.

  • Páramo walks

Highland moor above the treeline, with tussock grass, lakes and thin bright air.

  • Room with a view, every night

The beds face the windows, so the valley is the first thing you see each morning and the birds are the first thing you hear.

A day here

Bring all your senses to peace

A rhythm, not a schedule. Practice bookends the day; the middle is yours to spend on the mountain or on a patio with a cup of coffee.

  1. 6:30

    Coffee on the patio

Estate coffee, birds, and the valley waking up.

  2. 7:30

    Morning yoga

Vinyasa on the mesa with the Andes on every horizon.

  3. 9:00

    Breakfast from the garden

Eggs, fruit, bread, cheese from the neighbours.

  4. 10:30

    The day's excursion

Hot springs, a waterfall, horses, the river or the páramo. You can also stay on the farm and do nothing.

  5. 17:00

    Slow evening practice

Hatha and somatic work as the light goes long.

  6. 19:00

    Dinner together, then a fire

And after that, a quiet so complete you'll hear it.

Who hosts you

Nicholas Zetts on the farm with a llama

Nicholas Zetts

Owner, host & steward of the land

Nicholas came to Cahuasquí in 2006 as a Peace Corps volunteer in sustainable agriculture, meant to stay two years, and never really left. The farm exists because he and his neighbours built it by hand. He planted coffee in soil that had never grown it; that coffee has since taken 93 points at a professional tasting. He'll be the one pouring it.
