Mollie Johnson
Yoga was Mollie's first love. After ten years of personal practice, she began teaching and has spent more than two decades helping students feel at home in their bodies. She believes a posture is an outline, not a one-size-fits-all shape, and gives each student the attention to adapt it safely to their own needs. Mollie especially enjoys working with beginners, expectant mothers, older students and people returning to practice after injury or living with chronic conditions. A Seattle native, she holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico and pursued graduate work in anatomy and physiology at Bastyr University, where she also taught yoga. More than 1,000 hours of training as a licensed massage therapist inform her understanding of movement and biomechanics. She is certified by YogaWorks and has taught at YogaWorks, Yogis Anonymous and in corporate settings. She also offers private instruction in the Los Angeles area. At home, her dog Wiley occasionally joins her daily practice.
The week
Mollie's approach
Mollie's teaching is attentive and adaptable. Her background in anatomy, biomechanics and massage therapy shapes a practice that makes room for different abilities and life stages. On the farm, the yoga studio opens onto the valley, with good food and time to explore the landscape beyond the mat. The dates and details of Mollie's retreat are still being planned.
