"Peace is the calm after the adventure"

The Story

Nicholas Zetts is a dedicated steward of the land, committed to demonstrating the potential of sustainable agriculture on small-scale farms. Based in Southern California, he annually returns to his farm in Cahuasquí, Ecuador, which he acquired in 2010, to cultivate the land and develop an agritourism bed-and-breakfast. This endeavor serves as a life project, integrating his passions for sustainable farming, community engagement, and ecological balance.

Zetts's journey into agriculture began with his service in the Peace Corps in Ecuador, where he worked on organic farming and nutrition projects, including the creation of a school garden that won national recognition. Following his service, he earned a graduate degree in agriculture from Virginia Tech and gained experience managing gardens in Napa Valley. In 2016, he became the farm manager at Catalina View Gardens in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, where he oversees vineyards, avocado and citrus groves, and various vegetable crops. His work emphasizes regenerative practices, such as no-till farming, composting, and natural pest control methods like encouraging raptor populations to manage rodents

Beyond his farming endeavors, Zetts is an advocate for food and social issues, believing in the healing power of land stewardship and the provision of healthy, delicious food. He actively engages in community outreach, hosting urban farming classes and donating surplus produce to local soup kitchens. His vision is to share his unique property and the surrounding community with the world, inviting others to experience the harmony and potential that sustainable, small-scale farming can offer.

Cheers, and we can't wait to see you in the Island in the Sky.
